A Brief History of Neanderthals

According to historians, our story begins with a second chance. But let me wind the clock further back to tell the full tale. Neanderthals first wandered the earth long ago alongside many other species from the animal kingdom. They roamed the lands day and night, feared by all for their hunting prowess. But their glory days were short-lived, and Neanderthals quickly became extinct.

Shortly after the fall of the Neanderthals, homo-sapiens, known as humans, quickly became the most dominant species on earth. Corrupted by their own power, sapiens quickly turned greedy. They exploited one another and exploited the earth. After centuries of damage and ruin, they reached a point of no return. A mass extinction was upon them, and humans were completely wiped out. Dark was the night!

After the extinction of all mankind, planet Earth finally began to heal. Fast forward a couple million years... the Neanderthals were back. But shortly after their return to Earth, they began to turn against one another like the corrupted humans before them. Still, they had been given a second chance, and one remarkable Neanderthal was determined to seize it. This was the legendary Ghani Kalam.

Kalam saw the demise of the Neanderthals right before his eyes and decided to make a change. He left the warring ways of his people and travelled the Earth in search of a brighter future for Neanderthals. It was during such explorations that Kalam found the first ancient human relic to survive the mass extinction event. Over the next 2 decades, he dedicated his life to learning everything about humans. He wanted to understand what allowed them to thrive for so many years, their communities, their education, their ability to feel empathy for one another, and much more. However, he also learned of the greed and ignorance which led to their eventual downfall.

After many years in complete solitude, Kalam returned to his people to share everything he had learned with them, hoping they would see the light. He tried and tried to spread his learnings about the human story but to no avail. Most of them chose to ignore his warnings, and he was branded as a lunatic and outcast. Only a few fellow Neanderthals believed in him, so Kalam led them far away from the corrupted tribes to strike out on their own.

Ghani Kalam and his followers are the reason I'm able to share this story with you. None who remained behind survived, but we did... We Are The Last Neanderthals.

King Dries

Some say King Dries has led his people into the golden age of neanderthals, there has been peace for as long as most of us can remember. The nation is thriving but the people are becoming greedy, and they are also forgetting about their history and culture. The Kingdom looks down on all the tribes that have chosen not to assimilate, the tribal people are branded as barbarians. Tension between the tribes and the kingdom continues to escalate, many are looking to the King for a solution before it goes too far. As they say, Heavy is the head that wears the Crown.

Osiris

A legendary warrior nominated by his people to become a tribal leader. Osiris is known for being fiercely loyal and putting his people's safety and security above everything else. He is respected by most, even people in other tribes but many of the tribal leaders now believe that the King and his people have shown too much disrespect towards them and their culture. Many in the tribal regions believe it is time to make the Kingdom pay for their disrespect.

Ghani Kalam

Some refer to him as the most important figure in neanderthal history. It is easy to see why, during his early adult life, the Neanderthals were constantly warring with each other and other species. He believed there was more to life so he went exploring and found human ruins, technology and more. This led him to dedicate his life to learning. He also led some of the Neanderthals away from their warring ways to a more peaceful and educated way of living, over time all other Neanderthals died through war or famine, however those that followed him survived, they were the lastNeanderthals. He is believed to have died long ago, some believe he never really existed, and a very small number of dedicated followers believe he is still alive...somehow

Borutric

Once one of the Kings closest advisors. Now he is shunned by most and looked at as a lunatic. His crazy experiments tainted a period of the king’s reign where many volunteers lost their live sand developed unintended side effects. When the King confronted him and tensions developed, the scientist escaped toa location that is still unknown to continue his experiments and avoid persecution. Some believe he is the biggest threat to the neand species; others believe he is misunderstood. He has developed quite a substantial group of followers.
